The Story behind the Mantra – Moon and Sun

Posted: by Jo Monday, 26 November 2018 @ 14:04

Our beautiful and powerful new disc necklace shows the crescent moon surrounded by the sun, encircling a star. It represents the reassuring mantra, ‘May I always find light in the darkness, and sunshine in the shadows’.

Moon and Sun Necklace

We wanted to write a mantra of optimism and hope. One that encourages us to always look for the bright moments in life, and to focus on the positives not the downsides. Our brains are hard-wired to look for risk and danger in life, so this makes us more aware of things that are scary or worrying. We need to remind ourselves to look for positive and uplifting moments instead.

We were drawn to the moon and the sun as powerful symbols of light and hope. The moon has a strong pull on our imagination and our emotions. It lights our way at night, and holds sway over the tides. The sun is the centre of our universe, providing us with life, light and warmth. Without its energy, there would be no life.Draw on the powers of the sun and moon to bring you strength, hope, comfort and reassurance, whatever you are going through in life, and however challenging your circumstances.

We were also inspired by something Helen Keller said - ‘Keep your face to the sunshine and you will never see the shadows’. Helen Keller was born sighted, but lost her eyesight and hearing at the age of two. She went on to learn how to communicate; attended and graduated from college, with distinction; and became a leading campaigner and humanitarian, awarded many honours in her long life. She is a great example of perseverance and hope over adversity.

Hold onto your necklace and repeat its mantra to yourself, to put you into an optimistic and hopeful frame of mind.

This necklace is perfect as a gift for someone going through tough times, and to encourage optimism and positivity; or as a mantra for life, making a thoughtful Christmas gift.
