When we designed this necklace, we wanted to bring in the traditional symbol of the AA - a triangle inside a circle - but give it further depth of meaning. The equilateral triangle represents the three-part answer to alcohol addiction - unity, recovery and service; while the circle represents wholeness or oneness. The Lotus Flower surrounding it is a symbol of regeneration and rebirth, as the flower rises each morning through muddy waters to bloom again. It perfectly represents the chance to start afresh each day.
Its twelve petals subtly bring to mind the 12 promises you have made, and the 12 steps you are going through. Wearing a necklace to symbolise membership or belonging has its roots in ancient times.
