Relaxing at a spa this Summer? Here are our favourite spas to visit...

Posted: by Pallavi Monday, 7 August 2017 @ 10:25

A visit to a spa is the perfect chance to refresh your body and renew your mind. It gives you some proper time out, to switch off from the busy-ness of your life, and spend a few hours relaxing.

A spa visit is also the perfect opportunity to practise mindfulness.

Being mindful means being in the present, rather than thinking about the past, or worrying about the future. It means focusing on what you are doing right now – and really living that moment, in vivid detail. It means revelling in what you can see, hear, taste, smell, and feel. It means opening yourself up to the joy of the present moment.

The sensory nature of a spa experience is the perfect time to practise being in the moment. Whether you are indulging in a massage or a facial; enjoying the vigorous bubbles of a jacuzzi; or the pleasant heat of a steam room: it’s the perfect chance to be still, be present, and be mindful.

If you can perfect this during your relaxing spa visit, you can then practise mindfulness once you leave, trying to keep your focus in the present, on what you are doing in this very moment.

Two of our favourite spas to visit for a relaxing time are:

Thermae Bath Spa

Bath Thermae Spa

Mallory Court hotel’s new Elan Spa
