It’s been a difficult and challenging few months for us all, but it feels now like we are coming through it, and can start to look forward again. Many people have had their lives put on hold, or completely disrupted – but it is time now to start looking to the future once more.
Try not to let these last few months get in the way of following your dreams, or carrying on with the life that you had planned for. See this as an interlude, not a full stop.
Here are some mantras to get you dreaming once again. Tap into your deepest desires, reconnect with what sets your soul on fire, and start dreaming once more…
Dare to dream
These last few months might have made us forget about our dreams, or become disheartened or disillusioned about them. When there is so much else in the world to worry about, our dreams can seem self-indulgent or irrelevant.
But what the world needs is more people taking action towards following their dreams. We need inspired, energetic, enthusiastic people who are on fire as they live their dreams. So - this month - dare to dream again.
Find your True North
A brilliant mantra which asks us to look inside ourselves, to discover our true priorities and values. Our personal 'True North' is a compass of values which helps us to manage our life, including time, activities and priorities, according to what is most important to us.
When we know our 'True North', it is easy to assess opportunities and make decisions, because we have a touchstone to measure against. Has lockdown helped you find your True North?
Go confidently in the direction of your dreams
It’s time to start to dream again, and to look forward with positivity, hope and optimism. It has been a dark time in all our lives, but there is no reason to give up on your hopes and dreams.
Do as Henry David Thoreau commanded - 'Go confidently in the direction of your dreams. Live the life you have imagined'. Only we are in charge of living our dreams. No one else. And if we're not prepared to go out there and live our dreams, why should anyone else help us to?
Stay true to what inspires you
This mantra celebrates inspiration – that wonderful feeling we get when we feel happy, positive, motivated and in flow. Use it to encourage someone you love to pursue their dreams and ambitions; or to strengthen your own determination to live an inspired life. Perhaps Lockdown helped you get back in touch with what truly inspires you? If so - don't lose that insight now.
Sail away from the harbour. Explore, dream, discover
This mantra comes from a longer quotation, often ascribed to author, Mark Twain. There isn’t actually much evidence that it came from him, but they are stirring words, nonetheless!
“Twenty years from now, you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbour. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.”
Use this mantra as a reminder to get the most out of life - embrace each moment, explore everything life has to offer, travel, and dream big. Ships were made for sailing, not to stay in safe harbour.
I trust in new beginnings
A mantra to help us embrace new starts and transformations. The words remind us that, as each day starts afresh, we have the chance to begin again ourselves. To behave differently, to think different thoughts, to change how we react and respond. And to welcome new opportunities, new projects, new initiatives and new people into our lives – rather than standing still.
Let my imagination soar and my ideas flow
This mantra encourages us to creative and imaginative, thinking up new ideas and opening our mind up to new possibilities. It acts as call for inspiration when we need new ideas or solutions, or when we want to access the heights of our imagination. Creativity flourishes in space and stillness, so leave gaps in your day and in your life, for your imagination to flow.
May all your dreams come true
A wonderful wish for us all, in these times which have been more challenging than any of us could have imagined. The time has come to dream again, and start looking forward to a brighter tomorrow. If we are clear on what we wish for, and we are prepared to take action to make it happen – then why shouldn’t all our dreams come true?
Now that life has started again, and we are over the worst of the current crisis – it’s time we all started looking forwards again. Rediscover what makes you happy; reconnect with your long-held dreams; get excited about a brighter tomorrow; stay true to what lights you up inside. It’s time to believe in a better future. It’s time to dream again, and to make those dreams come true.
