I couldn’t sleep the night before I was due to go and pick up my exams, which now seems crazy. The fact is, firstly you can’t change what’s going to be on that piece of paper by worrying, and secondly, life is about so much more than letters on a page! However for those going through it, it can be really stressful, here are some mantras to keep you calm…
The night before: Take some time to relax and congratulate yourself on what you've achieved. Regardless of the result you showed dedication and determination. Have a meal with your family or friends, organise a pamper session, marathon a box set, have a luxurious bath, RELAX!
• This too shall pass
• Let go of what’s gone, be grateful for what remains and look forward to what is coming
• I am fearless and therefore powerful
• My faith is stronger than my fear
The morning of the results: Just remember that worrying won't change the outcome, you've done everything you can. Have a relaxing morning, have a delicious breakfast and take the time to thank those around you for their support.
• Hard work brings sweet rewards
• You did not wake up today to be mediocre
• Be kind to yourself today
• Stay strong
• Be the best version of you
The aftermath: Take a sigh of relief, you have your exam results. Now whether this shapes your next few years in sixth form, or the transition to Uni or a Gap Year, try and focus on today. Focus on what you have achieved and understand that whatever that next step is, it will be wonderful! Now go out and celebrate... (this selection also make great gifts for someone you know who is getting results!)
• Live boldly. Push yourself. Don’t settle
• Laugh often & much
• Explore, dream, discover
• Go confidently in the direction of your dreams
• The sky’s the limit
